History
The Veterinary Medical Hospital opened it’s doors at 605 1st Ave SW in
1974. As a young Veterinarian, Dr. Mike Williams believed that returning to his
home town to provide small animal care in his own practice was a “perfect fit”
for him and his family. After more than 30 years in practice, offering small
animal care is still the focus of Dr. Mike’s practice.
Although technology has changed and improved Veterinary Medicine and
it’s treatments, the goal at the Veterinary Medical Hospital remains the same:
Providing our clients with conscientious and quality care. New clients are
always welcomed by the Doctor and his friendly staff.
Staff
Dr. Michael Williams
Dr. Mike, an Austin native, graduated from the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine. He worked in a Wisconsin practice for a year and a half before returning to Austin to open his own practice in 1974. Working, living and raising a family in Austin has been rewarding.
Dr. Mike is an active member of the Austin Noon Lions, Cedar Valley Conservation Club and the Austin Chamber of Commerce.
In his leisure time he enjoys hunting, fishing, shooting trap, skeet and sporting clays. In fair weather you might find him traveling the highways and back roads on one of his motorcycles.
Jane Williams
Jane has been assisting her husband at the hospital since 1995. Before joining the staff she was employed at our local hospital in the Occupational Therapy Department. She finds working at the Veterinary Hospital a good match for her skills and enjoys the variety in her job as well as meeting new people and their pets. Her hobbies are raising and showing Cornish Rex cats, sewing, gardening and antiquing with Dr. Williams.
Cindy
Cindy, our Veterinary Technician, is a gradute of Consumnes River College in Sacramento, CA where she developed skills as a surgical assistant and radiology technician. Cindy has lived in Leroy, MN since 2000 and recently located here to Austin where she resides with her adorable canine companion Toby. For recreation, Cindy likes hiking, fishing, horseback riding and enjoys attending Bruins games here in Austin.
Elinor
Elinor is our Front Desk Receptionist. She is from Austin, MN and attended North Central University in Minneapolis where she graduated with a bachelors degree in Music Business. She enjoys spending time with her family, reading, snuggling with her Cornish Rex cat (Steve Martin) and scrapbooking.
Keith
Keith is our Tech Support Specialist and is currently helping with VetStreet, our new online veterinary system. Keith is originally from Duluth, MN and recently relocated to Austin, MN. He completed his undergrad degree in Photography at the Art Institutes International Minnesota and specializes in fine art landscape photography. He is currently working towards a graduate degree in Library Science. Keith enjoys reading, road biking, running and listening to music.
